Krzysztof Tomalski
prof. dr hab. sztuk plastycznych, Urodzony w Gorlicach 30 listopada 1963 roku. W latach 1978 – 1983 uczęszczał do Państwowego Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych im. Antoniego Kenara w Zakopanem. W latach 1983 – 1989 studiował na Wydziale Grafiki Akademii Sztuk Pięknych im. Jana Matejki w Krakowie. Dyplom z wyróżnieniem w Pracowni Miedziorytu pod kierunkiem Prof. Stanisława Wejmana uzyskał w 1989 roku. Od początku kariery związany z macierzystą uczelnią, najpierw jako asystent (1989), potem adiunkt (1998) i profesor ASP (2008). W 1997 roku uzyskał stopień doktora a w 2006 stopień doktora habilitowanego, w 2013 roku otrzymał tytuł profesora. W latach 2008 – 2016 dziekan Wydziału Grafiki; od 2016 roku prowadzi Pracownię Miedziorytu; od 2020 kierownik Katedry Grafiki Warsztatowej; od 2019 przewodniczący Rady do spraw Stopni ASP w Krakowie. Od 2008 roku prowadzi również Pracownię Grafiki w Instytucie Pedagogicznym PWSZ w Nowym Sączu, obecnie w Akademii Nauk Stosowanych w Nowym Sączu. Członek ZPAP i Stowarzyszenia Międzynarodowe Triennale Grafiki w Krakowie; w latach 2009 – 2012 członek zarządu SMTG. Członek IAPA, Międzynarodowego Stowarzyszenia Grafiki Akademickiej w Pekinie (International Academic Printmaking Aliance w Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China) – od 2016 roku członek kolegium założycielskiego IAPA, a od 2018 członek zespołu doradczego. Współzałożyciel Międzynarodowego Instytutu Grafiki w Pekinie (International Printmaking Institute (IPI), Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China) – od 2020 roku prodziekan IPI (deputy dean).
Od 2012 roku współpracuje z Fundacją im. Mariusza Kazany oraz Konsulatem Generalnym RP we Lwowie przy organizacji dorocznych konkursów o Indeks im. Mariusza Kazany. Jest zapraszany jako ekspert oraz obraduje jako juror w krajowych i międzynarodowych konkursach graficznych. Uczestniczy w konferencjach międzynarodowych na temat grafiki artystycznej i prowadzi gościnne wykłady na uczelniach zagranicznych. Wielokrotnie pełnił funkcje kuratora wystaw krajowych i międzynarodowych. Wygenerował wiele własnych metod graficznych, zawsze rozbudowujących technikę wklęsłodruku w celu uzyskania pożądanych efektów wizualnych i osobistego metaforycznego przekazu. W latach 1994- 2000 współpracował z Jerzym Pankiem wspomagając go technologicznie przy tworzeniu jego cykli grafik w technikach „suchej igły”, a przede wszystkim „odprysku”. Powstało w ten sposób kilkadziesiąt ostatnich grafik Jerzego Panka. Podobne relacje warsztatowo-artystyczne łączyły go z Czesławem Słanią w ostatnich dwudziestu latach jego życia.
Autor ponad pięćdziesięciu wystaw indywidualnych, oraz uczestnik ponad czterystu wystaw zbiorowych w trzydziestu krajach. Prace w zbiorach m.in.: Muzeum Okręgowe im. Stypendysta Elisabeth Grinshield Fundation, Quebec, Kanada, w 1990 roku. Za swoją twórczość otrzymał wiele nagród, m.in.: w latach 1991 -2004 jedenastokrotnie był nagradzany w krakowskim konkursie „Najlepsza Grafika Miesiąca”. Otrzymał również nagrodę na 4 Międzynarodowym Triennale Grafiki Małego Formatu, VIll de Chamalieres, Francja (w 1997); nagrodę w konkursie fundowanym przez Guntera Grasa im. Daniela Chodowieckiego w Sopocie (w 2002); nagrodę regulaminową, na Międzynarodowym Triennale Grafiki w Bitola, Macedonia (w 2005); brązowy medal na International Print Exhibition, Yunnan, Chiny (w 2012); nagrody regulaminowa na Triennale Grafiki Polskiej w Katowicach (w 2012, w 2015 i w 2021); na XII konkursie graficznym im. Józefa Gielniaka w Jeleniej Górze (w 2012); nagrodę specjalną na VII Międzynarodowym Triennale Grafiki w Splicie „VII Splitgraphic” w Chorwacji (w 2015); nagrodę regulaminową na 16 Międzynarodowym Triennale Małe Formy Grafiki w Łodzi (w 2017); brązowy medal na II Novosibirsk International Triennial of Contemporary Graphic Arts, Rosja, (w 2018); Grand Prix w II Ogólnopolskim konkursie graficznym im. Krzysztof Tomalski
prof. dr hab. fine arts, Born in Gorlice on November 30, 1963. In the years 1978 - 1983 he attended the State High School of Fine Arts named after Antoni Kenar in Zakopane. In the years 1983 - 1989 he studied at the Faculty of Graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. Jan Matejko in Krakow. Diploma with honors in the Copper Engraving Studio under the supervision of Prof. He received the Stanisław Wejman Award in 1989. From the beginning of his career, he has been associated with his alma mater, first as an assistant (1989), then assistant professor (1998) and professor of the Academy of Fine Arts (2008). In 1997 he obtained a doctoral degree and in 2006 a habilitation degree, in 2013 he was awarded the title of professor. In the years 2008 - 2016, Dean of the Faculty of Graphic Arts; since 2016 he has been running the Copper Engraving Studio; from 2020 head of the Graphic Art Department; since 2019 chairman of the Council for Degrees of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. Since 2008, he has also run the Graphics Studio at the Pedagogical Institute of the State University of Applied Sciences in Nowy Sącz, currently at the Academy of Applied Sciences in Nowy Sącz. Member of ZPAP and the Association of the International Print Triennial in Krakow; in the years 2009 - 2012 a member of the management board of SMTG. Member of IAPA, International Academic Printmaking Alliance in Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China - since 2016 a member of the founding college of IAPA, and since 2018 a member of the advisory team. Co-founder of the International Printmaking Institute (IPI), Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China - from 2020 vice-dean of IPI (Deputy Dean).
Since 2012, he has been cooperating with the Foundation for Mariusz Kazana and the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Lviv in the organization of annual competitions for the Index of them. Mariusz Kazana. He is invited as an expert and sits as a juror in national and international graphic competitions. He participates in international conferences on graphic arts and gives guest lectures at foreign universities. He has been the curator of national and international exhibitions many times. He generated many of his own graphic methods, always expanding the gravure printing technique in order to achieve the desired visual effects and a personal metaphorical message. In the years 1994-2000 he collaborated with Jerzy Panek, supporting him technologically in creating his series of graphics in the techniques of "dry needle", and above all "chipping". In this way, several dozen of Jerzy Panek's last graphics were created. Similar workshop and artistic relations connected him with Czesław Słania in the last twenty years of his life.
Author of over fifty individual exhibitions and participant in over four hundred collective exhibitions in thirty countries. He has received many awards for his work, including: in the years 1991 -2004 he was awarded eleven times in the Krakow competition "Best Graphics of the Month". He also received an award at the 4th International Small Format Print Triennial, VIll de Chamalieres, France (in 1997); prize in the competition funded by Gunter Gras im. Daniel Chodowiecki in Sopot (in 2002); the statutory award at the International Print Triennial in Bitola, Macedonia (in 2005); bronze medal at the International Print Exhibition, Yunnan, China (in 2012); statutory awards at the Polish Print Triennial in Katowice (2012, 2015 and 2021); at the 12th graphic competition named after Józef Gielniak in Jelenia Góra (in 2012); special award at the 7th International Print Triennial in Split "VII Splitgraphic" in Croatia (in 2015); the statutory award at the 16th International Triennial of Small Graphic Forms in Łódź (in 2017); bronze medal at the II Novosibirsk International Triennial of Contemporary Graphic Arts, Russia, (in 2018); Grand Prix on II competition dedicated to Feliks Piwarski, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the University of Warsaw Library (in 2018); second prize at the Second International Graphic Biennale in Yerevan, Armenia (in 2019); an award funded at the International Graphic Biennale in Sorcelles, France (in 2019); Grand Prix at the Jubilee 10th International Splitgraphic Biennale in Split, Croatia (in 2021); Award of the Małopolska Region for outstanding activities for the development and promotion of culture ARS QUAERENDI (in 2014); 1st Degree Award of the Rector of the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow (in 2016); Silver Medal "For Merit to Culture - Gloria Artis" (in 2017); Silver Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland (in 2019)
